For May, 2008, the Special Topic was Mycotoxins. The citation analysis featured the top 20 most-cited papers from the past 10 years. ISU authors Gary Munkvold (Plant Pathology, Seed Science Center), Rick Hellmich (USDA, Entomology), and Larry Rice (USDA-NVSL) were recognized at #12 on the list with their 1999 paper, "Comparison of fumonisin concentrations in kernels of transgenic Bt maize hybrids and nontransgenic hybrids" (Plant Disease 83:130), the first paper describing the mycotoxin-reducing capacity of transgenic insect resistance.
