Tarek Hewezi was awarded Egypt’s National Achievement Award in the Agricultural Sciences by the Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research, Cairo, Egypt, for his contributions in studying plant responses to biotic and abiotic stresses. Hewezi is an associate professor in the National Research Center in Cairo and is currently working as a visiting scientist in the Department of Plant Pathology, Iowa State University, with Thomas Baum on the mode of action of cyst nematode effector proteins.
