Confocal Microscopy and Image Analysis Facility
The Confocal Microscopy and Image Analysis Facilities are located in the
Veterinary Medicine Complex of Iowa State University and are managed by Dr.
Margie Carter. Confocal microscopy may be used to evaluate the proposed in situ
hybridization and immunolocalization experiments, which provides significant
improvements in optical contrast and resolution over traditional light and
fluorescence microscopy. The facility is equipped with a new Leica TCS NT
confocal microscope system integrated with upright and inverted Leica
microscopes. A variety of excitation lasers and detection configurations are
available, allowing maximum flexibility. Technical assistance and training are
available.
