Educational Background
  Ph.D: Cornell University

Courses Taught
Micro 201: Introduction to Microbiology. Fall and Spring semesters.

Pl P 408/508: Principles of Plant Pathology. Fall and spring semesters.

Research Areas
My research focuses on disease resistance in soybeans. Beta-aminobutyric acid (BABA) has been shown to induce disease resistance in a wide range of plant species. Our preliminary experiments have shown that BABA treatment can protect soybean seedlings from infection by Phytophthora sojae (root rot) and Peronospora manschurica (downy mildew) and cause a significant reduction in soybean cyst nematode reproduction. I am also collaborating in a study of the molecular interactions between soybeans and the soybean rust fungus, Phakopsora pachyrhizi.

Primary Duties
My primary responsibilities are in undergraduate teaching. I teach two courses, Introductory Plant Pathology (Pl P 408/508) and Introduction to Microbiology (Micro 201), each fall and spring semester.
