Iowa State University The Rust Report
Update - 7.29.09

Update from the south: I love Copy-n-Paste. The update from the south is exactly the same as the last one: “outside of a few new reports in Florida, there have been no new reports over the past few weeks. That is REALLY good news.”

Sentinel plots: We continue to monitor soybean fields across Iowa for early detection of soybean rust. To date, we have seen brown spot, frogeye leaf spot and bacterial blight. Today I received my first sample of bacterial pustule, which was from southern Iowa.

Modeling predictions: The predicted spore movement has increased over the past few weeks, but is still limited to states southeast of Iowa. The risk of rust getting to Iowa over the next month remains low.
