Project Information
The Xanthomonas Genomics Resource is a web-based database and communication forum to facilitate genomic approaches to the study of xanthomonads. The site is being built entirely with open source software and is intended to serve also as a central clearinghouse not only for genomic data, but for related data and resources such as gene expression data, type strains, DNA clones, and mutant libraries as well. Therefore, it will be a dynamic resource that increases in value and utility over time.
The site will provide anyone with a web browser access to the genome maps for the Xanthomonas strains we are sequencing as well as strains sequenced elsewhere, and will provide details regarding the pathology and epidemiology of each pathogen. The site will provide data and tools for comparative genomic analyses and as described above, will serve as a clearinghouse for related data and resources. The site provides a user registry and multi-container message board to facilitate community-wide communication of important developments and announcements. The site will also serve as the entry point for community annotation of the genomes we are sequencing. In addition to accessing all of the data on the site, registered researchers anywhere will be able to input new data regarding the function and structure of genes they study. To ensure accuracy, the annotation database will incorporate peer-review of incoming data.
