I am originally from Kansas and completed my undergraduate education at Missouri Western State University where I received a Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 2012. After graduation I worked as a quality control analyst in the microbiology department of a pharmaceutical company for two years. I decided to return to school to further my education and began the Interdepartmental Genetics and Genomics PhD program in the fall of 2014 where I joined the lab of Dr. Gwyn Beattie. My current project and research interests involve identifying interactions of photosensory protiens and downstream components and their effects on the lifecycle of Pseudomonas syringae, the bacterial plant pathogen.
