SoyFest

The Iowa Soybean Research Center hosted its inaugural SoyFest on August 25, 2021. This fun and educational event was held on ISU’s central campus to coincide with August as "Soybean Month" in Iowa and the start of fall semester.

Meals from the Heartland

In a kick-off event to SoyFest, the ISRC hosted Meals from the Heartland. ISU students, faculty and staff packaged 20,000 meals in which the main ingredient was soy protein.

As a kickoff event for SoyFest, a Meals from the Heartland packaging event will be held August 24th from 2:30-4:30 at the Hansen Agriculture Student Learning Center. Volunteers will be packaging 20,000 meals, which will be sent to those in need. If you would like to volunteer for a shift, please contact Jill Cornelis.

Join us August 25th for SoyFest!

The ISRC will be hosting its first ever SoyFest on Wednesday, August 25th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on central campus near Parks Library. The event will highlight the importance of soy, its many uses and emerging soy products. Come enjoy a free cookout, soy-related snacks, cooking and robotic demonstrations, giveaways, carnival games, a photo booth, and much more! More information

SCN Continues to Spread in the U.S. and Canada

In 2020, plant health professionals in the U.S. and Canada were surveyed by Iowa State to identify counties infested with the soybean cyst nematode (SCN) since 2017. A similar survey was conducted in 2017 for the years 2014 to 2017. There were 55 new U.S. counties in 11 states and 24 counties and rural municipalities in Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec in which SCN was first discovered between 2017 and 2020.

Soybean Research Advances at ISU

Soybean research continues on Iowa State's campus. From federal grants and current research projects, to extension education and industry connections, the Iowa Soybean Research Center continues to promote soybean research here on campus to further support soybean growers across the state.
