Laboratory of Gregory L Tylka

Welcome

Virtually all of the work in the Tylka laboratory is focused on the soybean cyst nematode (SCN), Heterodera glycines. Through this site we hope to provide you with general information about SCN as well as specific information about our lab and our research.

Many of the items on this site require Adobe Acrobat Reader. You can download it on Adobe.

In addition to SCN research, considerable effort in the Tylka lab is spent developing educational materials and implementing educational programs that explain the biology, proper identification, and management of the soybean cyst nematode for farmers and agribusiness personnel. These educational materials and programs are developed and distributed in partnership with ISU Extension field staff, public agencies, private seed and chemical companies, and commodity organizations.

The research and education efforts conducted in the Tylka Nematology Lab are supported, in part, by soybean checkoff funds administered through the Iowa Soybean Association, the North Central Soybean Research Program, and the United Soybean Board.
